Defense Minister Boris Pistorius has announced another military aid package for Ukraine. „The package will be worth a total of 400 million euros,“ said the SPD politician to Bild newspaper. „We will provide additional ammunition: explosive ammunition, mortar ammunition, and missile mines. Because ammunition is what Ukraine urgently needs in its defense against the brutal war of aggression,“ he said. „In addition, we will help with protected vehicles and mine clearance systems. However, we are also mindful of the approaching winter: we will send clothing, as well as power and heating generators.“

The defense minister himself will not be attending the meeting due to a COVID-19 infection.

It remains unclear whether the equipment mentioned by Pistorius is entirely new announcements – the Ministry of Defense did not comment on this. The online published list of planned German support services includes approximately 17 field heaters, 240,000 winter hats, and mobile mine clearance systems, in addition to ammunition.

Ob die Bundesregierung Taurus-Marschflugkörper schickt, hat sie noch nicht entschieden.“ Zur Frage, ob Taurus ohne Hilfe von Bundeswehrsoldaten eingesetzt werden könne, sagte Pistorius: „Auch dies gehört zu den Fragen, die wir klären.“
