The F.A.Z. is entering the newsletter business with „D:ECONOMY“.
DThe Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung is entering a new digital business field by launching a range of professional information offerings under the brand ‚PRO‘. These offerings are aimed at readers who want to delve deeper into a topic beyond what a general newspaper provides, according to F.A.Z. publisher Gerald Braunberger. The PRO information offerings consist of a weekly email briefing, complemented by a website, an app, as well as live sessions and podcasts. With this cross-media offering, the F.A.Z. is redefining the product category known as „Vertical“.
The first of these thematic offerings is dedicated to the digital economy under the name „D:ECONOMY“, focusing on topics such as Artificial Intelligence, platform economy, and digital transformation. We also address future topics such as autonomous driving and the contribution of digital technologies to climate protection. For this purpose, F.A.Z. has taken over the established market newsletter „Netzökonom“ by Holger Schmidt, who has returned to F.A.Z. as the Editor-in-Chief of Newsletters and Verticals and is responsible for this new editorial offering.

„I cannot reword“
The editorial team works with data – for many topics, the relevant information is presented in graphics to provide a quick overview of the strategically important statements. This is because the target audience of the information offer is all digitally interested individuals who want to be comprehensively and quickly informed in one place in order to keep track of the innovations in Silicon Valley, the dynamics in Chinese Shenzhen, and the regulation in Brussels in this bustling field.
„I cannot reword“
An example: We examined the status of the platform economy worldwide for the first edition. The USA accounts for 80 percent of the global values of the world’s top 100 platform companies. China’s share has halved to 16 percent in just four years, while Europe only reaches 2 percent.
But we will also be very practical. The „Prompt of the Week“ shows how artificial intelligence makes life easier. For example, writing a speech in seconds, automatically documenting meetings, answering emails, or summarizing long texts. We test the best AI tools for you and show how we can all benefit very easily from artificial intelligence.
The editorial team works interactively and aims to engage with readers in live events – initially digitally, but also in conferences in the future. And feel free to contact us if you have any suggestions, questions, or criticism. You can reach us at deconomy@faz.de.
Live-Events, Briefing und Website
The D:ECONOMY-Briefing, which is sent every Wednesday at 8 am, can be tested for free for three months initially. To continue reading the full version of the briefing and the articles on the web and in the app afterwards, our F+ subscription is required, which also allows full access to our website FAZ.NET. All other readers will continue to receive the light version of the briefing, which contains a reduced amount of information.
