BP-Chef Bernard Looney has resigned with immediate effect due to previous relationships with colleagues. The oil company announced on Tuesday in London that interim Chief Financial Officer Murray Auchincloss will take over as CEO. The impending departure was reported earlier by the Financial Times.

BP stated that Looney has informed the company today that he was not fully transparent in his previous statements. He did not fully disclose relationships with colleagues. It is unclear what type of relationships are involved and which guidelines Looney has violated.
