Anton Steinbrecher selbst lässt sich lange nicht zur Sache ein, obwohl er den Drachen tötete. Erst als der Sohn seiner Sorgentochter Doris in den Grundzügen des Wesentlichen beschlagen ist, und sich sein Charakter unter den Zeitgeistschleiern zu erkennen gibt, macht sich Anton darin, seinen ältesten Enkel und bis dahin einzigen männlichen Nachkommen zu initiieren.
