Der Tatverdächtige, der im Zusammenhang mit dem gewaltsamen Tod einer 17-Jährigen und einem Angriff auf eine 30-Jährige im niedersächsischen Landkreis Diepholz gesucht wurde, wurde festgenommen. Die Polizei teilte mit, dass er am Mittwochabend ohne Widerstand festgenommen wurde. Das Auto des 42-Jährigen, nach dem gesucht wurde, wurde um 19 Uhr an der A7 gefunden. Etwa eine Stunde später erfolgte die Festnahme im Raum Schwarmstedt.
Die 17-Jährige war am Sonntagabend mit ihren Inlineskatern unterwegs gewesen. Ein Radfahrer fand die leblose Schülerin in Barenburg in einem Graben an einem Feld und alarmierte die Polizei, die sofort mit der Spurensuche am Tatort begann. Eine Obduktion bestätigte, dass die Jugendliche einer Gewalttat zum Opfer gefallen war. Sie wurde demnach erstochen.
Zweiter Angriff am Mittwochmorgen
On Wednesday morning, a man – according to investigators, the same perpetrator as in the case of the 17-year-old – attacked a 30-year-old woman in front of a fast-food restaurant just a few kilometers away from Barenburg. She was seriously injured with a knife. Witnesses prevented worse from happening and assisted the woman. After the attack in Sulingen, she was taken to a hospital with severe but non-life-threatening injuries.
The police identified the alleged perpetrator based on his car license plate. On Wednesday afternoon, the Verden District Court issued an arrest warrant against the 42-year-old for suspicion of completed and attempted manslaughter. „According to current investigation, he randomly selected his victims and attacked them uncontrollably,“ said the police.
The investigators conducted an extensive search for the man from Kirchdorf and released photos of him and his car. If the suspect, who is considered dangerous, or his vehicle is spotted, the police should be notified immediately, it was stated.
The violent death of the 17-year-old had deeply affected the people in the region. According to Pastor Klaus-Joachim Bachhofer from the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Kirchdorf, approximately 400 people attended a funeral service on Tuesday evening. Another funeral service was scheduled for Wednesday evening. Additionally, three to four emergency pastoral counselors were available for conversations afterwards, as stated by the pastor. The school also provided a quiet room that was supervised by an emergency pastoral counselor at all times.
