The Thai Central Group and Austrian Signa plan to invest 300 million Swiss francs in the Swiss group’s department stores in the coming years. A significant milestone was recently achieved with the opening of a new store in St. Gallen, housed in a historic building.

The building known as the House at Multertor was constructed in 1891. It initially housed a embroidery exchange and served as a bank for over 100 years, with UBS being the last bank to have a branch here until 2021. The property is now owned by Akris founders Albert and Peter Kriemler, who, under the guidance of architect Ippolito Pestellini Laparelli (Erker Studio), extensively renovated the house for the new tenant.

Previously, Globus was spread across three buildings in St. Gallen, but now all departments are united under one roof in a historic setting, covering an area of 3000 square meters.

In the basement, you will find the spacious delicatessen department, as well as a restaurant with a café and bar. It has its own entrance and is open seven days a week from 7 am to midnight. The highlight is the „Multertor“ restaurant, which was able to secure star chef Tobias Funke from Globus.

Since spring 2020, the company has been part of the leading European luxury department store group, which includes some of the most prestigious and successful department stores such as Berlin’s KaDeWe, Rinascente in Italy, Illum in Denmark, and since August 2022, the Selfridges Group (Brown Thomas, Arnotts, and De Bijenkorf).
