Passengers traveling on long-distance trains of the German Railways experienced a high number of delays in August. The company announced on Friday that only 63.4 percent of ICE and IC trains were on time. This marked the lowest value so far this year.
In August 2022, the long-distance trains were, however, even more unreliable with a rate of 56.8 percent. According to the railway’s definition, arrivals with less than six minutes of delay are considered on time.
The main reason for the low rate remains the numerous construction sites on the railway network, which is in need of renovation in many places. According to the railway company, almost 70% of long-distance trains still have to pass through at least one construction site.
