While 1000 delegates gather at the Verdi Federal Congress in Berlin until September 22nd to elect a new board, the HDE advises its members to fuel the stalled wage negotiations with an early salary increase.

According to the German Retail Association HDE, there have been more than 50 nationwide negotiations in the current collective bargaining round without any results. As a result, employers are now advising unionized retail companies to increase wages without a collective agreement. This is intended to show appreciation for the employees. There is also a clear recommendation regarding the amount of the voluntary wage increase. Verdi has not commented on this matter.
