„Illegale“ Einreisen? Warum die Statistik juristisch in die Irre führt

In the eastern part of the country, it may become more common in the future to hear: Good day, please show your identification papers. This is because there are increasing numbers of people arriving without proper documents. While the pandemic had led to a decrease in refugee movements internationally, the numbers are now rising significantly. In the first half of this year compared to the same period last year, there has been a 50 percent increase in the German-Czech border and a staggering 144 percent increase in the German-Polish border. More people are now crossing these borders than all other German border sections combined. This has prompted the East CDU (Christian Democratic Union) to take action. The interior ministers of Saxony and Brandenburg, Armin Schuster and Michael Stübgen, are calling for stationary border controls and are being supported in this demand.
