ifo Institut: Weniger Industrieunternehmen melden Lieferengpässe

Fewer and fewer industrial companies in Germany are reporting material shortages. In August, it was 24.4 percent, down from 29.5 percent in July. The Munich-based ifo Institute announced this based on a recent survey. „The trend is moving closer to pre-crisis levels,“ said Klaus Wohlrabe, head of ifo surveys.

For the first time since July 2021, the percentage of companies experiencing delivery issues in each industry has dropped below 50 percent, according to the institute. In more than half of the sectors, the value is even below the long-term average. The automotive industry remains the most affected, with approximately 49 percent of companies reporting supply shortages.

The percentage dropped below 40 percent in the electrical industry. No significant issues can be found in the beverage industry (7.2 percent), the paper industry (2.1 percent), or in metal production and processing. „Manufacturers of leather products have no worries at all,“ stated the ifo Institute.
