At the end of the G20 summit of the leading industrial and emerging countries in the Indian capital New Delhi, both Russia and Western states have described the meeting as a success – albeit for different reasons.

Even climate activists lamented a „ridiculously large“ gap between the promises made by G20 nations and their actual commitment to combat global warming. Specifically, Russia and Saudi Arabia prevented the announcement of an exit from oil and gas in the final declaration at the summit in New Delhi, as noted by Christoph Bals from Germanwatch.
