Zu stark waren die Widerstände dagegen, jemanden zu würdigen, der wegen seiner Russlandpolitik bis in die Parteispitze hinein in Ungnade gefallen ist und gerade erst ein Ausschlussverfahren überstanden hat.
Nun muss der SPD-Bezirk Hannover den Fall lösen. Dessen Chef Matthias Miersch, Vize-Fraktionsvorsitzender im Bundestag, soll bei der Ehrung ein Grußwort halten, als Laudator ist Herbert Schmalstieg vorgesehen, früherer Hannoveraner Oberbürgermeister.

According to the report, the 79-year-old will receive a pin and a certificate.
