Deutscher Buchpreis 2023: Terézia Mora und Tonio Schachinger auf der Shortlist für den Buchpreis
The jury of the German Book Prize 2023 has announced the six finalists. The shortlist includes Terézia Mora (Muna or The Half of Life), Necati Öziri (Fatherland), Anne Rabe (The Possibility of Happiness), Tonio Schachinger (Real Age), Sylvie Schenk (Mom), and Ulrike Sterblich (Drifter).
The authors wrote with intelligence, as well as humor and warmth – „that after reading this shortlist, we not only ask ourselves where we come from, but also where we want to go.“
196 Titel wurden gesichtet
Since the start of the call for submissions, the seven jury members have reviewed 196 titles that were published between October 2022 and September 19, 2023. In August, the jury narrowed down the selection to 20 titles.
The Foundation for Book Culture and Reading Promotion of the German Publishers and Booksellers Association honors the best German-language novel of the year with the German Book Prize. It has been awarded since 2005 and is considered one of the industry’s most important accolades.
2022 gewann Blutbuch
In 2021, Antje Rávik Strubel was awarded the prize for her novel „Blaue Frau“, and in 2022, Kim de l’Horizon received the prize for „Blutbuch“.
The award ceremony for this year will take place on October 16, 2023, marking the beginning of the Frankfurt Book Fair.
