Many here are relatively well-off, both natives of Swabia and newcomers. Beyond the cliché of the „angry citizen“ for the resistance against the still very unfinished underground station, the people in the Stuttgart region are considered sluggish or at least calm – especially when times become more complicated. In migration policy, Baden-Württemberg’s state capital has been following its own „Stuttgart way“ for more than two decades. However, even here in the region, right-wing voices are becoming increasingly loud.

In the late summer month of October, the city center is filled with a lively atmosphere. The cafes are bustling, including those where a simple espresso costs four euros. The meadows at the castle square are crowded.
