The Chancellor’s Office: Economy and trade unions express disappointment after the chemical summit.

Vertreter der Chemiebranche haben die Ergebnisse eines Gipfeltreffens mit Bundeskanzler Olaf ScholzMarkus Steilemann, President of the Association of the Chemical Industry, criticized the (SPD) in Berlin. After the meeting at the Chancellery, he stated that the most urgent issue, the introduction of a so-called bridge electricity price, had not been addressed.

The chairman of the Chemistry Union IGBCE, Michael Vassiliadis, also called for prompt discussions on the matter. „We have initial indications that the situation may also result in job losses and potential closures or relocations,“ he said.

Criticism also came from the opposition. „It is five minutes to twelve in Germany,“ said North Rhine-Westphalia’s Minister President Hendrik Wüst (CDU). He could understand why representatives of companies and trade unions were disappointed with the outcome of the meeting. While the federal government was aware of the problem, specific and appropriate solutions were not discussed.
